Outside the box

I have always loved ghost-writing here and there during my free time. The idea of writing using a pseudo name had me feeling “safe”, after all, I have never seen myself as a 'proper' writer. So, when the Lord led me to start writing here after pushing the idea away for SO LONG, and I mean really long, it was intimidating and exciting all at once.
The trademark of the famous brand, Nike says, “Just Do It!” and really, why not? That’s enough motivation needed to get out of my comfort zone. As a mom of 3 kids under 3 (yea, I know - a poor attempt at rhymes), married, saved and washed by the blood of Christ, I have to admit that my Christian life has been challenged in different spheres and at different phases. So, have you ever stepped out of their comfort zone to do the things that you normally wouldn’t dare to do? If so, I would love to hear from you. For now, think on this verse from the Holy Scriptures…
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3: 20-21 NJKV

The story of the young and old prophets in 1 Kings 13 is quite an intriguing one. In case you are not familiar with this story, here is a summary. There had been friction between Israel and the tribe of Judah such that each side of the divide had their leaders. Israel – Jeroboam; Judah – Rehoboam. Jeroboam had made altars in Bethel where he worshipped calves. Obviously, God was not happy with that. So, He sent a godly man from Judah to Jeroboam to deliver a message of what was to happen. This message was so authentic it came with a sign. Although the prophet’s name was not recorded, what we know is that he was young. Possibly vibrant, zealous and keen to serve the Lord (Perhaps this may remind you of yourself) . When friendship is not enough...

Just putting it out there before you read further... I am not a counselor. Everything you read from this point onward has stemmed from my personal experience, learning from others around me and teachings from my Bible. I'm sure like me, you hear different slogans/sayings daily, even sometimes use them. One of such is the saying - "Marry your friend". Marriage counselors repeatedly sound it in the ears of singles everywhere you turn. As a young girl, I had seen first hand, the benefits of this popular phrase but, curious me just wouldn't leave it at that. I knew there had to be more to marriage than simply marrying one's friend. Why? Because, I know for a fact that friendships do fall apart. Not every friendship lasts forever. Some are for a season and they will fizzle out no matter how much you try to salvage its remains.
